The dreaded playroom.....

I am never satisfied with the playroom. The kids have gotten past the point of many toys, now they like to play video games or fooseball or just watch TV so our playroom is not really a playroom anymore. I try to make it look nice but it always ends up being the catch all for everything in the house, plus ou look directly into the room when you enter our front door which is a constant frustration to me when its all over the place......and yet that's where the kids have fun.
I've struggled with what to do and finally decided I need to go with it for the next number of years, as its the place where the kids have friends and hangout and watch TV. It also resolves a lot of arguments when we need two TVs or one wants to watch TV and the others play video games.
I found this dresser for $50 on the garage sale site and have plans to repaint and finish it. It has lots of storage for seasonal items and looks good up against the wall. I bought the mirror for $10 and spray painted and distressed it. Loved how that turned out. TJMaxx helped with a couple of items to pull it all together and an iron rod from Rod Works to display some of our Florida pictures on the opposite wall. A couple of wreaths I already had and TA DA.... I'm happy with how it turned out but Im sure it wont last long with the kids and their friends....that's ok! As long as they enjoy it Im happy....

Something refinished, something sold.....

Sometimes after I finish a project and give it a home for a while, I decide to sell it off. It's always bitter sweet saying goodbye to something I created but it usually means room for another fabulous piece.  These two items sold in minutes on the garage sale site and I welcomed two new pieces into the house....pictures to follow :)

MOTIVATION - nun of it!!!

aaagggghhhhh I'm drowning in my house!  I remember the early days of our marriage when I was super anal about straight towels and clean floors.  I used to always be on top of my house, well for the most part.  Now I find days will go by with dirty dishes in the sink, sticky stuff on the floor, rewashed clothes in the machine because I didn't switch to the dryer fast enough and bathrooms - lets not even go there.  I do not have enough time in the day but I also have ZERO motivation to do anything.  I hopped on Pinterest to see if anything could work some magic on me and I found this.....
yes this is my situation.  I clean or tidy and less than 10 minutes later is a mess again.  I. GIVE. UP!

Finally....

It's taken about three yearS to get around the my project of painting our front door. I had to get permission from our HOA, which was my excuse of why it was taking so long, but really I just wasn't motivated enough to get around to it! Finally sent in the papers and got the go ahead to do the door. What a difference a coat of paint can't make.... I feel like I have a new house haha.... It was easy and quick. Sanded the door down first to remove all the lumps and bumps from tape and other seasonal stuff that had been on the door. I gave it a couple of coats because I love when the paint is thick and covers everything.  I was finally able to hang a cute wreath up!  It changed the way our house looks from the street - I love it!

Something I Loved

Its funny how our tastes a styles change over time.  This is a picture of a window frame that I loved.  I still think its cute but decided to sell it after having it for years.  I find my taste in home decor really swinging from traditional and country to clean, contemporary and classic!  I have been extreemly unmotivated to do stuff with my house.  No interest in decorating, not interest in shopping, want to purge and get rid of EVERYTHING....I have thought of moving houses just so I can start over - clean slate - Ive even thought of lighting the house on fire....Im joking....I haven't.  It's just overwheleming but I have for sure changed my style and what appeals to me.  This beautiful pressed flower window frame now belongs to someone else that will give it love and a new home.

Christmas Table

Ive wanted Christmas dishes for a couple of years.  Something that was classic and would last for years.  I bought these from our bishops wife.  They got them as a wedding gift and only used them once.  They had a whole large set in a tupperware box.  I love them.  I'm so excited to use these for years to come.
